Job Summary:
Symmetry Physical Therapy is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team. The primary responsibilities will involve working closely with a professional soccer team, providing sports injury management and rehabilitation. Additionally, the position will involve supporting the athletic training needs of a local college. Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine and deliver appropriate healthcare to players including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, development and implementation of rehabilitation and prevention programs, and scheduling of medical referrals.
  • Attend all team-sponsored events including practice sessions, gym sessions, home games, away games.
  • Coordinate with the visiting team to ensure access to appropriate medical services and supplies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions using evidence-based practices to guide decisions.
  • Oversee, in collaboration with medical staff, the early-stage rehabilitation design and implementation of individualized rehabilitation programs and return to fitness protocols.
  • Electronically documents all relevant injury and illness information including mechanism of injury, examination and diagnosis, assessments, player treatments, and return to play progressions.
  • Work in collaboration with Director of Sports Medicine to design and implement programs to reduce the risk of injury and illness.
  • Complies with OSHA standards regarding blood-borne pathogens.
  • Keeps athletic training room and other areas safe, clean, and organized.
  • Initiates medical insurance claims for players and works collaboratively with human resources and medical staff throughout the entire claims process.
  • Complies with all League medical policies and protocols.
  • Abides by all local, state, and federal laws and regulations specific to the profession, codes, and standards of the associated governing bodies.
  • Attends all activities/meetings/programs as required by the League.
  • Attends activities/meetings/programs to maintain professional license(s) and continually improve the level of health care services delivered to the players.
  • This position must be able to work flexible hours which will include extended days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights due to travel.
  • Provide athletic training services part-time to a local college, working with student-athletes in various sports to prevent injuries, manage existing injuries, and promote overall wellness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in athletic training or related field.
  • NATABOC (National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification) certification required.
  • State of New York Athletic Training licensure required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (must be maintained).
  • Previous experience working with professional sports teams, college athletics, or similar settings is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques, as well as familiarity with various sports-related injuries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel for away games.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting treatments and progress.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and skilled Licensed Orthopedic Physical Therapist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a patient-centered environment and has a strong interest in orthopedic rehabilitation. New graduates from accredited programs are encouraged to apply and we invest in developing our clinicians and structure the role to support real growth.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess patients’ physical conditions and needs
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
  • Provide hands-on care, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and patient education
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust plans of care as needed
  • Educate patients on injury prevention, home exercise, and lifestyle modifications
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records in our EMR system (TheraOffice), in compliance with clinic policies

Qualifications

  • Licensed Physical Therapist (DPT) in New York State, or a New York State limited permit (new graduates welcome)
  • Experience in orthopedic physical therapy preferred; new grads considered
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and staff
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Compassionate, professional demeanor with a genuine desire to help others
  • Availability for the schedule above, including Monday and Wednesday afternoons/evenings
